How we help
Unlocking Potentials, Building Futures.
Unlocking Potentials, Building Futures.
Our decision to open a children’s home was a response to the call for high-quality residential children's homes capable of catering to the unique needs of young people between the ages of 10 and 17. This inspired the creation of our first home in Bromley, achieving registration in April 2024.
Recognising the positive impact of our approach, local authorities have requested additional homes to accommodate the growing need. Our mission has always been to deliver tailored support and care, fostering an environment that promotes growth, self-reliance, and positivity.
As we continue to evolve, we have set ambitious plans for expanding our reach further, with more homes expected to open in the next few years in the Bromley, Mitcham, Gillingham, and Gravesend areas. Each home is designed with the aim to empower young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, ensuring they feel valued, heard, and an integral part of their care planning.
At Freshstart Care Solutions, we make a difference by making our young people feel 'at home', fostering an environment where they not only want to be but feel motivated to engage actively in the planning and decision-making of their care. Our homes are more than just buildings; they are a starting point for a fresh, positive journey.
At Freshstart Care Solutions, we're proud to offer semi-independent living arrangements for young people between the ages of 16 and 17. Our service has been designed to be adaptable to the needs of a diverse range of young people, including those with more complex requirements. Our team comprises a combination of experienced social workers, educators, and specialist support staff, all dedicated to fostering positive outcomes for the young people in our care.
Whether a young person is transitioning from a youth offender institution, a mental health facility, a children's home, or other care arrangements, we provide a supportive environment that enables them to integrate successfully into the community when they reach 18. Our facilities are spread across Croydon, Bromley, Mitcham, Gillingham, and Gravesend, ensuring we can provide a convenient solution for young people in various regions.
Each of our semi-independent homes accommodates a maximum of four young people, with some homes able to offer a 1:1 environment. This small ratio ensures that our social workers can fully dedicate their time to understanding the needs of each individual, implementing the Freshstart Care Solutions methodology to its fullest potential. Our team also includes dedicated education and health & wellbeing specialists, providing well-rounded support for our young people.
All of our semi-independent homes are staffed throughout the night with sleep-in support, so we can promptly respond to any issues that may arise, no matter the hour.
Staying Connected: The Freshstart Promise
We've always believed in the power of maintaining relationships with our residents, even after they have transitioned into independent living. The bonds our team forms with the young people in our care are genuine and enduring. Our open-door policy encourages ex-residents to reconnect with us, whether it's for a quick catch-up, some advice, or assistance with challenges they may be facing in their new circumstances. For those who need additional support, we're able to transition them to the community service, ensuring continued care and guidance. These sentiments echo our motto: once a Freshstart child, always a Freshstart child.
In essence, Freshstart Care Solutions isn't just about providing a home—it's about creating a community that supports growth, fosters resilience, and encourages young people to strive towards a brighter future.
We understand the unique challenges and joys of being a new parent, especially for young individuals who are still growing and learning themselves. We have therefore dedicated ourselves to providing tailored support in our Parent and Baby Homes.
Our Parent and Baby Homes provide an environment that is nurturing, warm, and homely, designed to assist young parents in confidently stepping into their new roles. We believe that every parent, irrespective of their age or circumstances, has the capacity to provide a loving and stable environment for their child. Our aim is to support and guide them on this journey, offering professional guidance while respecting their autonomy and decisions as parents.
In these homes, we cater to both mothers and fathers, recognising the equal importance of both parents in a child's life. Our homes offer semi-independent units where parents are provided with their own personal space to bond with their baby while still being within a supportive community.
We provide holistic support, with emphasis on practical skills such as cooking, budgeting, and maintaining a clean living space, along with parenting skills including feeding, bathing, and understanding infant cues. We place a high value on education and offer support in accessing appropriate educational opportunities or returning to education if the young parent wishes.
A key element of our service is its focus on emotional wellbeing. Parenthood can be an emotional rollercoaster, and we are here to provide guidance and support during those ups and downs. We promote the development of strong parent-infant bonds and secure attachment relationships, as we recognise their importance for the child's future emotional wellbeing.
At Freshstart Care Solutions, our Parent and Baby Homes are more than just a place to live—they are a supportive community committed to helping young families thrive. We welcome you to join us on this transformative journey.
